Half Way There

Time flies when you're ... well, moving, finding new employment, finishing up a residency, writing a book, setting up a new house, and growing a person ... all of which David and I have been doing during the last several months.  So please forgive the lack of updating.  But to be honest, there hasn't been much to update.  Doctors appointments have been "textbook," according to my doctor.  I arrive at the office, pee in a cup, get weighed, the doctor listens to Kritter's heartbeat, and then I spend the rest of the day trying to wipe ultrasound goo off of my belly.
But let me rephrase.  There hasn't been much to report -- until now.  Last week Tuesday, on our anniversary, no less, David and I sat in a room while an ultrasound technician took pictures of the Kritter.  We left the office with eight still-frame shots of the little bugger and a DVD which means we can go on and watch the heart pumping and the kidneys working.  The one thing we didn't find out was Kritter's sex -- and we did that on purpose.  Gender-neutral baby gear, baby!
So without further ado, I would like to present... the Kritter!

This is a shot of Kritter's face from the front.
Here we have the Kritter in profile...
Little tiny feet...

The Kritter has arms -- with little tiny fingers!

Ooooh, and legs!

The little curled up Kritter -- trying to hide (insert possessive pronoun here) face

...and not succeeding!

Yup, that's a baby in there!

Both the ultrasound technician and the doctor told us that everything looks perfect -- textbook, even.  The technician went back and double-checked some of her results just to make sure she hadn't "missed" anything.  I am simply dizzy with awe and wonder at the tiny little being growing in me.  David and I really can't wait to meet the little bugger!  (Not too soon, though.  Stay in there, baby!  Get a little fatter!) We are so thankful and feeling so blessed, even in the midst of the chaotic move, and starting a new life in Memphis.  It is simply incredible.  Thank you to everyone sending prayers our way!
